Color of Devotion

The deep, rich, blues, purples and reds calls one to a visual, spiritual reverence and devotion.  The colorful lofty sanctuary is a cool respite in the warm spring afternoon sun up in the Sierra Madre Mountains.

Completed in 1608, the church is central to the life of the  town. Detailed with Roman and Corinthian architecture, the church was originally built in 1608 and then rebuilt after an earthquake in 1868.  It was designed in the Colonial Spanish Baroque style with notable architectural details, including Corinthian columns and ceiling vault frescos.
