Creating monochromatic landscapes has captured my interest the last few years, resulting in these images. Lines, forms, tones and shadows can define the space differently; unencumbered by the complexities of color. It’s another way to see the image I have captured.
The landscapes are places I frequent in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and Oregon. The imagery is endless, and so is my love of travel, roadtrips and exploring. My camera becomes a tool when I stop and take the time to look deeper into the images around me, framing, focusing, adjusting the light, and seeing various perspectives and interpretations of the same subject–composition, light, contrast, interest.
The captured images become the foundation for a finished, published image. I make the creative adjustments to my originals, and the final images are not exact representations, but rather images that are my own creative vision, and images I am pleased with and excited to print and share.
